Nellie is a good old fashioned sort and is beautifully put together, she is strong, with excellent bone and joints; I haven't seen many mares with a front like hers - you could certainly fit a top hat between her knees! She also has wonderful paces with a big, powerful stride, great natural rythmn and balance and also very agile and athletic. Nellie had not been ridden in a sandschool prior to coming to live with us, however she took to flat work very easily, she is a clever, willing and kind mare who loves her work. She is a good example of how versatile a gypsy cob can be; brilliant to drive and hack, a quality, responsive ride for schooling, she loves jumping and is totally bombproof for any child to ride or handle.
Although we no longer have the riding school we still keep horses and Nellie is one mare we could never consider selling as she is a sort hard to find and part of the family. We bred a colt foal from her and have given him to Robert Giles - he is pictured here at approx four months where he was already very chunky with a nice raingbow neck coming along. A year later he is turning out to be a substantial and powerful fella!

This is Roseanne, she is one of Nellie's daughters, sired by the Rocking Horse(owned by Steve Down) I sold her to Sam Adams, she is now doing very well under saddle and has been placed in traditional classes. Roseanne has inherited a kind nature both from Nellie and the Rocking Horse, bred from two proper working cobs she should have a great future ahead of her.
